What is Clara AI?
Clara AI is an iPhone app for talking out loud with an AI companion. You pick one of five animated characters, hold a button to speak, and she answers in her own voice while the words appear as live captions. It is a voice call, not a chat box.
Can I actually talk to the AI companion out loud, or is it text chat?
It is voice-first. You hold one large push-to-talk button, say what is on your mind, and release. Her reply is spoken aloud sentence by sentence as it streams in, with captions for both sides. There is no typing and no send key.
Does the AI companion remember previous conversations?
Yes. Each companion keeps her own conversation history plus an "About you" memory of what you have shared. Switching companions switches which conversation you are in — they do not share memories.
How many AI companions are there and how are they different?
Five: Clara is warm and witty, Luna is a calm dreamy night owl, Hana is bright and upbeat, Rei is cool-headed with a sharp tongue, and Iris is a fast-talking tech gremlin. Each has her own look, voice, personality and separate memory.
Can the AI companion teach me a language by voice?
Yes. Any companion can be set to the Language tutor role and you practise by speaking. She talks and understands the language, corrects your mistakes gently, and adjusts to your level. Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic and Bangla are supported.
What else can a companion do besides talk?
Each companion can take a role from her card: Teacher, who explains any topic in small spoken steps; Language tutor; Wellness guide, a supportive listener for everyday wellbeing that is never medical advice; or Custom, where you describe how she should behave in your own words. The role changes what she focuses on, not who she is.
Is Clara AI free?
Free to start. The free tier gives you a set number of completed replies each month, and Clara Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription that raises the limit and unlocks the Medium and Expert conversation modes. Current pricing is always shown by the App Store inside the app.
Where are my conversations stored? Is it private?
Conversations live on your iPhone, not in a public feed. Voice input is handled by Apple’s on-device speech engine and payments go through the App Store. You can clear everything from Settings at any time. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
